ETS Signs MoU with Vel Tech University to Support Students in Tamil Nadu for Overseas Education
ETS Announces Merit Scholarship worth INR 2.50 Lacs for students at Vel Tech University
Chennai, 27 November 2023: ETS India, a subsidiary of ETS which is the world’s largest educational assessment, research and measurement organization and the owner of assessments such as TOEFL® and GRE®, today signed a MoU with Vel Tech University, one of Tamil Nadu’s top private universities. As part of this collaboration, ETS will support students at Vel Tech with preparation for TOEFL and GRE as well as train teachers/trainers at the university, organize TOEFL and GRE masterclasses, offer free TOEFL and GRE practice tests to registered test takers and invite students to participate in informative webinars by foreign universities.
ETS will also offer two merit scholarships totalling INR 2,50,000 (INR Two Lacs and Fifty Thousand Only) per annum for students at Vel Tech taking TOEFL and GRE tests in addition to discounts on test fees for all students and alumni of the institution.
Students who aspire studying abroad from Vel Tech will be able to take advantage of free TOEFL iBT and GRE tests prep resources each month, with ETS training all TOEFL trainers at Vel Tech. This relationship will support the growing number of TOEFL and GRE test takers in Chennai.

The fact that TOEFL is widely accepted in renowned study abroad destinations like the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as its recognition in over 12,000 institutions across 160 countries, reinforces its status as the most preferred English language proficiency test for Indian students.
The new and enhanced versions of TOEFL and GRE have been implemented since July 26 and September 22, respectively, making these the shortest amongst all major English proficiency and graduate gating examinations. In the enhanced versions, emphasis has been laid on making the testing process hassle-free and friendly for test-takers.
For students planning to pursue education in an English-speaking country, or at an English-taught program in a university abroad, TOEFL iBT holds immense significance as it serves as an important piece of their admissions portfolio.
