
In safety and solidarity: Amway India partners with Udhavam Ullangal to help and empower communities through COVID-19!
- Conducts sanitization and disinfection for its NGO partners in 36 locations across the country impacting lives of more than 3000 beneficiaries

Chennai, 20 August 2020: Amway India, one of the country’s leading FMCG direct selling companies, continues to mobilize efforts to support vulnerable communities in the areas of health, hygiene, safety, education and skill development. In line with its commitment to helping people live better, healthier lives, Amway India has been constantly exploring ways and means to support the communities and has further intensified its efforts to provide them assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As maintaining safety and hygiene are of utmost importance during the pandemic and hence Amway India has conducted sanitization and disinfection drive in the premises of 12 NGO partners across India, nine Aanganwadi centers under the Power of Five nutrition and education program in Delhi, 15 villages in Dindigul district to reduce the levels of microbiological contamination. The drive covered an approximate area of 1,30,000 sq ft benefiting the lives of more than 3000 less privileged children and adults. In Chennai, the sanitization drive was done at Udhavam Ullangal covering an area of 5000 sq. ft of their premises.

During the unprecedented lock-down period, conforming to the norms of social distancing, Amway India stepped up its efforts by supporting its NGO partners in their initiatives towards training, education, skill development and assessments of the beneficiaries through various digital tools to ensure consistency in their learning & development. Amway facilitated Udhavam Ullangal and conducted various activities ranging from health camps, workshops, fitness sessions, competitions to ensure steady engagement of the lesser privileged children.
Talking about the initiative, Mr. K. Suresh, Secretary, Udhavum Ullangal, said, “Health and hygiene of our kids is one of the top priorities, especially in these unprecedented times. We thank Amway for standing by us and taking this initiative of disinfecting and sanitizing our premises, in addition to extending support towards the education of our kids.”
During the current global health crisis, Amway’s Founder’s Fundamentals was reinforced by the generous voluntary contributions by Amway employees from their salaries. Amway India also contributed INR 2.36 crores to support the country’s fight against the pandemic. The fund entailed contributions towards PM CARES FUND, Tamil Nadu CM’s public relief fund, Kerala, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh CM’s public relief funds and support for Government’s on-ground health and sanitation services. Additionally, the funds also provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, gowns, shoe covers, head covers, masks, respirators, and eye protection gear to public health service workers through the company’s NGO partners. Further as part of the fight against COVID-19, Amway India also developed Persona Hand Sanitizer Gel which to support the frontline workers working for the cause of Covid 19 in India.

- Amway India supports a comprehensive CSR programme covering a gamut of initiatives including a water conservation project to improve the ground water level in 7 villages in the Dindigul district located around the manufacturing plant. Amway supports a village health program targeted at 26 villages in the Dindigul district, to provide quality healthcare to the underprivileged. The treatment includes general health check-up, select pathological tests and medicines at zero cost to the beneficiaries. In a span of over 20 months over 240 free health camps have been organised benefitting more than 50,000 people from local communities.
- Amway India set up a telemedicine centre in the Dindigul district to ensure a consistent healthcare support to the villagers. This program has eliminated distance barriers and improved access to medical services in distant rural communities. The centre aims at providing free medical treatment to over 7,000 patients in a year.
- Last year Amway India launched a Community Health & Entrepreneurship Program in the rural areas of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to offer livelihood training in Entrepreneurship skills and business fundamentals with the objective to promote self-employment among women and to create awareness on affordable health and hygiene practices.
- Recently Amway India has launched the community-based nutrition education program to improve the nutritional status among children (below 5 years) in the select slum areas of West Delhi. The program focuses on prevention, early detection and improved access to care in line with the National Nutrition Mission, Govt. of India.
- As a key focus area, Amway has taken various initiatives to support the cause of visually impaired. Amway also supports underprivileged children in education, health and hygiene under a project titled ‘Sunrise’. Under this project, Amway currently supports more than 15 NGOs across the country.
- Amway India has been conferred with the ‘CSR Leadership Summit & Award’ in the category of ‘Promoting Employment for Specially-abled’.
- Amway India was also recently awarded with the ‘Best Corporate’ award in the ‘Specially-abled’ category at the prestigious National CSR Summit & Awards 2018 for its invaluable contribution towards the welfare of visually impaired by CSR Times.
