Admissions commence with immediate effect for July 2021 batch
Chennai: Kautilya School of Public Policy, Hyderabad affiliated to GitamDeemed to be University, popularly known as GITAM (www.gitam.edu), has opened the applications for academic year 2021.
The institute is offering a 2-year residential Master’s in Public Policy (MPP) Program and short-term Management Development Programs in public policy for working professionals (applications for the latter will open in January 2021).
The MPP is a 103-credit program with a curriculum designed to expand knowledge, enhance skills and instil values during the 2-year duration. At the end of the first year, students must undertake a 3-month internship with an organization of their choice. The program culminates in a master’s thesis based on capstone project undertaken either independently or with an organization as a part of faculty-led project on a current policy led issue.
The curriculum for both the programs has been aptly curated to give learners ample time and learning avenues for a variety of crucial skills such as identification of issues; exploration of viable frameworks to develop policies; creation of policies to convincingly address existing problems and comprehensive evaluation of existing policies.
Students at Kautilya will learn from some of the best teachers in public policy from around the world who will also come as guest or full-time faculty. Some of the faculty members include- Prof. Steve Jarding, Former Lecturer in Public Policy, Harvard Kennedy School and a global political campaign consultant; Prof. Indermit Gill, Professor of Public Policy and Non-Resident Senior at the Brookings Institution, Prof. Rathin Roy, Managing Director, (Research and Policy),ODI and former member of Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council and Professor Glenn Kramon, Lecturer in Management, Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Kautilya School of Public Policy, located in the GITAM Deemed to be University Campus in Hyderabad is designed as a non-hierarchical, interactive academic campus to enable deep learning and knowledge sharing. The classrooms, group study rooms and other academic spaces deploy the latest in IT, AV and educational technologies. The design creates a lot of spaces for social interactions in order to encourage learning from peers, seniors and faculty. Apart from teaching infrastructure there exists a state-of-the-art media centre to groom students and executive education participants to become excellent media communicators across various formats. The institute has collaborations with entities like Telangana State Innovation Cell, Heritage Beku, Hasten, IJM, KhanaChahiye, Karnataka Evaluation Authority and Save Life Foundation amongst others. These diverse partnerships are aimed to aid in the student’s understanding of policy making at ground level.
The institute will also offer need-based scholarships for candidates. In the first year, scholarships to the tune of 30% of revenue will be given on a financial need basis to the candidates. The applications and scholarships will be taken in three rounds starting from January 15th, February 28th and April 15th 2021. Students seeking scholarship are advised encouraged to apply enrol in the first round itself to secure placement.
