Chennai, September 23, 2026:
Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) is set to launch Sony Vizha, its much-awaited Tamil general entertainment channel (GEC), on October 19, 2026 at 8 pm. Built around the brand promise “Ithu Namma Vibe,” Sony Vizha will celebrate Tamil Nadu, as it is lived and experienced today, through its language, culture, traditions, aspirations, and unmistakable way of life.
Bringing together global formats, marquee talent and stories shaped for Tamil audiences, the channel aims to offer entertainment that is contemporary in scale while remaining deeply rooted in the state’s cultural identity. ‘Ithu Namma Vibe’ finds expression in the small but instantly recognisable things that give Tamil Nadu its distinctive character – its food and music, spirited conversations, shared celebrations and the everyday moments that bring people together. The brand film captures these familiar experiences through the lens of Vizha – a celebration of everything Tamil.
Sony Vizha will begin its journey with two of the world’s most popular entertainment formats, reimagined for Tamil audiences. Its opening line-up includes Celebrity MasterChef Tamil, featuring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Tamil Idol, featuring A.R. Rahman. The two properties bring together globally celebrated formats and some of India’s most admired personalities, setting the tone for the channel’s ambitious entertainment offering.

Rajaraman Sundaram, Chief Content Officer – South Regional, Sony Pictures Networks India:
“Sony VIZHA has been created with a simple ambition — to celebrate Tamil Nadu as it is today: confident, contemporary, rooted in its culture and constantly evolving. ‘Ithu Namma Vibe’ captures the many little things that make Tamil Nadu uniquely its own — its people, its warmth, its traditions and the everyday moments that bring us together. We are coming to an audience with an extraordinary love for entertainment and a very strong sense of what feels truly Tamil, and we approach this journey with both humility and excitement. We hope to earn a place in their lives by bringing them stories and experiences that feel fresh, relevant and familiar. With wonderful talent and some of the world’s most loved formats, we are excited to begin this journey with Tamil Nadu.”

Tune in to Sony Vizha from October 19, 2026, 8 pm onwards.
