Fish Farms are looking at sustainable, green energy solutions for organic produce
Coimbatore , 10 November 2021: In a bid to reduce dependence of Inland Fisheries on fossil fuel-based electricity, the fish farmers are switching to solar powered solutions across the state of Tamil Nadu as that is helping them to convert their energy dependence from liability into an asset. Loom Solar- a solar tech startup under Govt. of India’s Start Up India initiative and leading mono-panel manufacturer, is supporting these fisheries to find suitable solar energy solutions that are much needed to maintain the water level of their ponds along with aeration and oxygenation of aquaculture.
Inland Fisheries are one of the important sources of income for people in rural areas of Tamil Nadu totaling over 60,000 fisheries across the state. Dependence on grid power and metered connection therefore is seeing an alternative in renewable energy. Solar power solutions by Loom Solar are helping the fisheries by powering the pumps to pull underground water to ensure minimum threshold water level and aeration processes are maintained for cultivating appropriate produce. Also, the need for illumination during night, mechanical feeding, remote observation is also getting addressed.
