‘En Chennai Young Chennai’ is all set to step into the second year as the city gears up to celebrate Madras Day on 22 August.
Chennai is becoming young with every passing year because of the modernisation and charm. ‘En Chennai Young Chennai’ is an initiative to celebrate people who work hard selflessly to ensure that the city life is a pleasant and memorable one.
When it comes to ‘Madras Day’, it is alway common to think about the city’s heritage, talk about its history, deliver lectures and carry out heritage walks.
As far as ‘The Idea Factory’ and ‘Earth and Air’ organisations are concerned, Madras Day is more than its history and heritage.
A young Chennai can only be created with the teaming up of friendly people who work for the betterment of the society. This is the main theme of ‘En Chennai Young Chennai’ which was started in 2021.
It is important to celebrate the memorials and beauty of Chennai. But ‘En Chennai Young Chennai’ gives preference to celebrate the people of Chennai. This is the idea behind the ‘En Chennai Young Chennai’ festival which brings together like-minded people who love the city.
Last year we introduced the anthem ‘Vantharai Vazhavaikkum Chennai’ which speaks about the pride of the city. Apart from this, the creative and inspiring youth of the city were also honoured with awards. The awards were given to the youngsters based on the categories – For Chennai, By Chennai and To Chennai.
These awards identified those who showed unity, expressed commitment and fought for the rights of the people, environment, natural disasters, pandemic and overcame unexpected situations in the past ten years to revive Chennai.
