Chennai, January 20th, 2021: Pongal is one of the most important festivals celebrated by Tamilians across the world and it is celebrated with great enthusiasm every year. One of the key elements of this festival, is adorning the entrance of homes with a Kolam (geometric designs made with rice powder) which symbolizes a new beginning and it is this very element that is beautifully featured on the Puttam Pudhiya (all new) pack of Parachute Coconut Oil, launched exclusively for Tamil Nadu.

One of the largest coconut-producing states in India, Tamil Nadu is the home of hardworking farmers who are key contributors in making Parachute, the country’s most loved coconut oil. So, on the auspicious occasion of Pongal, Parachute partnered with Tamil celebrities and influencers to introduce the new pack that celebrates Parachute’s Tamil roots, as a humble tribute to this land they call home!

Tamil celebrities Nakshathra Nagesh, Pragya Nagra, Gayathri Yuvraaj, Janani Ashok Kumar and social media influencers including Chaitra Latha, Swetha Naidu, Nidhi, Vaishnavi Arulmozhi, Anita Chandhoke, Vaishnavi Ra, Shyni Shanmugan, Vrusha Balu, and Swetha Renukumar proudly displayed their #WeAreTamil Kolam expressing their connect with Parachute, a household favourite that is toiled from the land they call home. Through the inclusion of the Kolam art and Tamil tagline (100% pure coconut oil) on the front of the new pack, Parachute attempted to communicate to their regional consumers that the product they love so much is as much theirs as the language they speak.

Popular Tamil film actress Nakshathra Nagesh in her reel post of Instagram said, “Such a proud moment for us in Tamil Nadu to know that Parachute Coconut Oil, a household favourite that we have been using for generations, is sown and grown in the land we call home. On the auspicious occasion of Pongal, Parachute has introduced this new pack made exclusively for us which truly brings us closer to the brand strengthening the feeling that together, #WeAreTamil! The kolam we see so proudly placed on the pack symbolises a new beginning and has inspired me to make a kolam using the stencil given by the brand”.

The celebrities and influencers encouraged their followers to also share their #WeAreTamil Kolum designs tagging them and the brand to stand a chance to win exciting hampers. Contest winners were announced on 19 Jan on the brand and influencer’s Instagram handles.

With the help of the influencers alone, Parachute’s #WeAreTamil campaign reached 5.7M consumers and achieved an additional reach of 47.6K with 100+ User Generated Content, till date.
