Jomon Philip & Geena Jomon of Julien and Jerome International are producing the film ‘Angaaragan’, The film features Sreepathy in the lead role, who has written screenplay and has worked as creative director of this movie as well.
Actor Sathyaraj, after a long hiatus, appears as a antagonist in the role of a police officer. Niya Sankarathil is playing the female lead role, and the others in the star cast include Appukutty, Angadi Three Mahesh, Reina Karad, Neha Rose, Guru Chandran, KCB Prasad and many others perform important roles.
Mohan Dachu, a former associate of Ram Gopal Varma is directing this movie, scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on September 8. The Pre-Release event of this movie was held in Chennai, and here are some excerpts from this occasion.
Actor Sathyaraj said, “Even before narrating the film’s script, producer Sreepathy told me that I am hero, and you’re the villain. It kindled the memories of SS Rajamouli approaching me with the script of Baahubali, where he told me the same thing. When he narrated the complete script of Angaaragan, I was completely enthralled about the intensity of script and the scope to perform a lot in my character.”
“When I signed ‘Love Today’ movie, I had some doubt whether it would benefit me, but then I completely surrendered to the director. And finally, the film became a great hit. So I have started getting casual, and nothing being more concerned with assumptions. During the years of Walter Vetrivel and Amaithipadai, I was dominating cinema, and now cinema is dominating me. So I will have to accept the fact and move ahead.”
“Many have been asking me how come I am attending this event despite the demise of my mother before one week. We have a culture of not stepping out of the house for 16 days after the demise, but then my mother two years ago called all our family members and relatives saying, “After my demise, my son shouldn’t be asked to perform any such rituals.” We have been inclined to the the ideology of ‘Periyar’. So I am here for this occasion without being confined to the rituals.”
“I am currently working in 20 movies including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi cinema. I openly tell everyone from the other regional industries that I am fluent only with Tamil and half-baked English. I am feeling little bored to be acting in cliched father roles. I would like to have some villainous shade. I am acting as antagonist after a long time, but I can’t guarantee that I would continue appearing in the same role. Directors should confine villains, and leading heroes must encourage the actors playing that characters. When I entered Tamil film industry, I was blessed to be working with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan as villain. Manivannan would create characters keeping me in mind, which is completely missing these days. It is because he was a guru, who wanted to see me in such shades.”
“Starting a political party is more like stocking up vote banks. On the other hand, the individuals voicing out their opinions for social cause are also politics. I am doing it. I am so proud to see Prakash Raj openly speaking his views without any fear. When a famous artist is coward, we tend to create a cowardice in the society.”
“I keep sharing my views and opinions now and then. When it comes to deciding between actor and Periyarism, I firmly stick to the latter one, and I have been following it wholeheartedly. I believe that there is no discrimination of high and low by birthday. I follow the principle of there are two groups – Man and Woman.
When we say ‘Superstar’, it’s Rajinikanth who comes to my mind. We shouldn’t change it. According to me, ‘Rajinikanth sir’ is the only superstar. Ezhisai Mannar, Makkal Thilagam, Nadigar Thilagam are the titles that are given to the stars out of love and respect, and no one can replace them. Will anyone call Rajini sir as Makkal Thilagam or ennoble Kamal Haasan sir as ‘Nadigar Thilagam’ as he had performed 10 roles in Dasavatharam. Similarly, every actor has their own title. It’s Superstar Rajinikanth, Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan, Thalapathy Vijay, Thala Ajith.” By saying so, he brought to an end about the ongoing debates and confrontations pertaining to ‘Superstar’ title over the past few days.
