SHABIR SULTHAN AND CHINMAYI SRIPADA’S ‘VAANMATHI’ RECEIVES WARM RESPONSE; CHENNAI PROMOTIONAL EVENT DRAWS ENTHUSIASTIC AUDIENCE
Singer-songwriter and composer Shabir Sulthan and acclaimed playback singer Chinmayi Sripada have come together for the independent Tamil single “Vaanmathi,” a contemporary love song that beautifully blends Tamil poetry and melody with R&B, hip-hop and Indian classical influences.
Released worldwide on September 11, 2026, under the label Shabir Music Asia, “Vaanmathi” has begun its promotional journey on an encouraging note.
As part of the song’s promotional campaign, a special event was held on, September 12, at Ampa Skyone Mall, Chennai, where the team interacted with audiences and celebrated the release of the song. The event received a warm and enthusiastic reception from the gathering, with audiences responding positively to the song, its distinctive musical treatment and the collaboration between Shabir Sulthan and Chinmayi Sripada.
A Love Song Rooted in Tamil Poetry
At the heart of “Vaanmathi” is a simple yet evocative question — Can the heart choose not to fall in love?
The song begins through a series of rhetorical questions inspired by the inevitabilities of nature: Can the sun choose not to rise? Can a shadow choose not to follow? Can a flower choose not to bloom?
These thoughts eventually lead to the central question about love, which also becomes the musical turning point of the composition.
Beginning with Tamil melody and poetry, “Vaanmathi” gradually enters a contemporary musical landscape where hip-hop and R&B rhythms meet rich synthesizer textures and Indian classical influences. The composition also features a semi-classical passage inspired by Raag Karaharapriya and Raag Suddha Dhanyasi, with rapid aalapana layered over contemporary beats.
Speaking about the thought behind the song, Shabir Sulthan says:
“I’m setting the song up lyrically with Tamil poetry that starts with rhetorical questions: can the sun choose not to rise, can the shadow choose not to follow, can the flower choose not to bloom? The verse finishes with the punch line: can the heart choose not to fall in love? From there, Vaanmathi springs into a completely different musical world, where Raaga Karaharapriya, hip-hop, R&B and contemporary synths collide and the nectar of love begins to overflow.”

“Vaanmathi” marks an independent collaboration between Shabir Sulthan and Chinmayi Sripada, bringing together two distinctive Tamil voices in a song that seamlessly moves between Indian melodic traditions and contemporary global production.
Shabir has also written the lyrics and composed the music for the track, while Abin Paul has handled the mix and mastering.
The project reunites Shabir Sulthan, Muzammil Elias and Chandni Nagadurga following their earlier collaboration on Must Date the Playboy.
The official music video is directed by Muzammil Elias and features Muzammil Elias and Chandni Nagadurga on screen.
